How to prepare your PS5 or Xbox for GTA 6

Make room, without guessing.

Check your available console storage. Keep the final store download requirement in view; example sizes in our calculator are not storage recommendations.

Check automatic downloads.

Review the current instructions for your console and power settings. Availability of a download still depends on your account and purchase.

Test your connection.

Use a console network test and compare it with a realistic sustained download speed. Wired connections can help reduce Wi-Fi variability.

Good to know.

Can I play as soon as the preload finishes?

Preload access and game unlock are separate. Downloading the files does not grant early play access.

What if my boxed copy has not arrived?

You need the download code before you can redeem it. Ask your retailer about delivery or collection timing rather than assuming access on the first preload day.

Does my preparation checklist sync between devices?

No. It is saved only in this browser’s local storage. Clearing site data or switching browser profiles starts a separate checklist.
